X-Men #130 is scorching hot again after Taylor Swift was spotted hanging with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Where does that leave the fair market values for Dazzler’s key issues? Come with me, and you’ll see a world of collecting propagation.

It really doesn’t take much for Swift to make headlines. The megastar can do even the most mundane of activities and the pop culture sites lose their minds. Last week, she was spotted at a Kansas City Chiefs game cheering on her supposed beau, Travis Kelce. Suddenly, he’s the talk of the NFL, and Swifties sent his jersey sales skyrocketing.

Of course, when she is seen in the skybox for another Chiefs game, the headlines exploded. While news outlets tended to overlook that she just so happened to be rubbing shoulders with Reynolds and Jackman, comic book speculators began connecting the dots. With ample rumors that Swift will play Dazzler in Deadpool 3, fans took the celebrity intermingling as one step shy of a Marvel Studios press release.

As Swift dominated news feeds, collectors and investors aimed for those all-important key issues.

X-MEN #130

When buyers fired up their eBay accounts, they began their searches with the UXM #130 direct edition. Despite the Swift news bolstering the sales volume, the graded 9.8 had actually been at its cheapest in years. Back in 2021, it averaged over $1,700, but the current 12-month FMV sits at $1,480.

However, the recent celebrity sighting has inflated those prices. So far in October, it hasn’t sold for less than $1,950. Just days ago, it hit $2,100, the highest sale since, fittingly, ‘21.

If you really want to complete your dazzling sets, track down a newsstand edition. There hasn’t been a 9.8 sold online since one brought $1,320 on Sept. 5, which is actually below the $1,779 three-month FMV. Still, it’s a far cry from 2021’s $950 average.

DAZZLER #1

It’s standard practice for collectors to track down a character’s first self-titled issue. As soon as you get your hands on a first appearance, the next step is the first series. For that reason, Dazzler #1 has been ascending the sales charts for months.

A year ago, you could have owned a graded 9.8 for around $170. For the past 30 days, that average has elevated to $206, and the most recent sale from Oct. 2 saw it bring $245.

DEADPOOL #67

With prices inflated for the aforementioned comics, collectors are on the hunt for budget-friendly alternatives. Deadpool #67 fits the bill as it marked the first time Dazzler met the Merc with a Mouth. The issue has been getting more attention thanks to all the Swift rumors, and the graded 9.8 has jumped from last year’s $67 average to a $100 30-day FMV.

BEDAZZLING

How long will this wave of Dazzler excitement last? That’s hard to say. The last round kept those keys in the hot seat for a few weeks. If there’s still no full confirmation, then things might begin to cool in about the same span.

If Reynolds and company acknowledge once and for all that Swift is Marvel’s Dazzler, it will keep those embers glowing for quite a bit longer.
