The monthly Top 10 CGC Submissions is a curated list of comics and magazines that have been moving up CGC's grading lists. CGCData.com pulls the data straight from CGC over the past 30 days.

For the month of September, there are a couple of familiar faces (e.g., X-Men #1 and New Mutants #98), and strong representation from the Rippaverse for the fourth straight month. Let's take a closer look at last month's CGC submissions.

Without further ado, here are the Top 10 CGC submissions during the month of September:

1. Isom #1 (2022, Rippaverse);

2. Incredible Hulk #181 Silver Foil Reprint (2024, Marvel);

3. RippaZine #2 (2024, Rippaverse);

4. RippaZine #2 Collector's Edition (2024, Rippaverse);

5. New Mutants #98 (1984, Marvel);

6. Wolverine #1 Horn Variant Cover (2020, Marvel);

7. X-Men #1 (1991, Marvel);

8. House of Slaughter #25 Yoon Variant Cover A (2024, Boom!);

9. Isom nn #1 (2022, Rippaverse); and

10. Ghost Rider Final Vengeance #1 Convention Edition (2024, Marvel).

New Mutants #98 joined the elite 30,000 club this past month.

New Mutants #98 joined an elite club in September 2024: the 30,000 CGC submissions club. Prior to September, there were only four books that had surpassed 30,000 submissions: (1) Amazing Spider-Man #300 (37,425 submissions); (2) Spawn #1 (34,421 submissions); (3) Amazing Spider-Man #361 (32,070 submissions); and (4) Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #8 (31,749 submissions). You can see a pattern here; the top submissions are related to the alien symbiote saga and / or Todd McFarlane.

That's why it's interesting for New Mutants #98 to join the 30,000 club since the first appearance of Deadpool breaks that pattern. Not only does joining the 30,000 club demonstrate Deadpool's lasting popularity but it is also a reflection of the availability of this Modern Age key. The value of a 9.8 has totally crashed over the past two years in part because of the huge number of submissions to CGC; there are simply too many 9.8s out there and not enough demand.

The next book that will join the 30,000 Club? With 29,688 total submissions, it's only a matter of time before Wolverine Limited Series #1 joins the club. Last month, collectors submitted just over 100 copies of this issue to CGC, so we can expect Wolverine to join Spider-Man, Venom, Spawn and Deadpool in late 2024 or early 2025.

CGC received roughly 1,800 comics published by RippaVerse during September.

Just like in July and August, comics published by RippaVerse dominated the top 10 list in September. Specifically, CGC received over 1,800 comics published by RippaVerse, and four of the top ten spots were taken by RippavVerse comics. Isom #1 took the No. 1 spot with a whopping 771 submissions in September.

As you may remember, another RippaVerse character, Yaira, dominated last month's CGC submissions top 10 list in July and August. Looking at the CGC Census today, it looks like the vast majority of those submissions were for CGC's Signature Series; there are now 838 9.8, 212 9.9 (!), and 37 10.0 (!!) yellow labels of Yaira #1 on the CGC Census. One of those yellow label 9.8s sold on July 6th for a solid $256 on eBay.

I have a hard time seeing a yellow label 9.8 holding onto that value, however. Once some of those 9.9s and 10.0s that CGC just graded hit the secondary market, I the value of 9.8s will most likely plummet.
