Believe it or not, the Academy Awards were sending reverberations through the secondary market this week with a couple of Bat-family keys feeling the fire. Take a closer at what issues were trending in the Hottest Comics.

40. BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE (+11)

Matt Reeves may not have taken home any Oscars gold, but fans can’t get enough of The Batman. Not only are we anxiously awaiting the Penguin spinoff show, but there’s still so much we don’t know about The Batman Part II. We already know we’re getting a sequel to The Joker, but audiences are still ready to see Barry Keoghan’s take on the character.

If anyone could bring The Killing Joke to life, it’s Reeves and Keoghan, and it would be epic, no doubt.

52. DAREDEVIL #183 (NEW TO THE LIST)

Odds are the Daredevil: Born Again Disney Plus series will be tied to Frank Miller’s classic “Born Again” storyline in name alone. That doesn’t mean we aren’t all daydreaming about what could be if Drew Goddard were back in charge of adapting Miller’s work for the screen. Still, bringing Daredevil, Kingpin, and Punisher back together is tantalizing in itself.

That is helping to propel some wonderful Bronze Age DD comics up the charts, beginning with one of the best covers of Miller’s run.

56. WEREWOLF BY NIGHT #32 (NEW TO THE LIST)

To be honest, Kevin Feige didn’t tell us anything we didn’t already know. Only weeks ago, he confirmed that Oscar Isaac would return as Moon Knight. When, where, and how that will transpire is still unknown, but Marc Spector is most definitely on his way back to the MCU. Then again, did we expect any different?

Surprise or not, it’s been enough to put buyers back on the trail of Moon Knight’s holy grail first appearance in Werewolf By Night #32.

61. THE BATMAN ADVENTURES #12 (NEW TO THE LIST)

Lady Gaga tore the house down at the Academy Awards when she performed her song from Top Gun: Maverick. That exposure helped keep Joker: Folie à Deux in the spotlight as she is set to portray Harley Quinn in the character’s first ever musical.

It’s a gamble, to say the least, but director Todd Phillips has the world intrigued, which is a boon for sellers who have a surplus of Harley’s first appearances.

65. TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLE ADVENTURES #1 (NEW TO THE LIST)

Eastman and Laird creation TMNT Adventures 1

If there is one thing that is true in pop culture it’s that the Ninja Turtles will never die. The concept is dusted off and reimagined for each generation, and it almost always succeeds. The newest iteration just had its first trailer, and the voice cast alone is packed with A-list stars. Whether or not it will top the 2012 TMNT show remains to be seen. In the meantime, it’s sent buyers on a hunt for those Ninja Turtles keys.

With the six printings of the original TMNT #1 so outrageously expensive, it’s no wonder that collectors have turned their attention toward the first adaptation of the 1980s cartoon in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Adventures #1.
