Gwen Stacy is proving to be a force in the secondary market, and buyers weren’t ignoring her Silver Age keys in this week’s Hottest Comics.

Another week, another round of investment speculation. As we wait for The Flash’s market impact, Across the Spider-Verse continues to dominate eBay sales. That’s what it all comes down to in the Hottest Comics - sales. Ranking the 100 best-selling comics on the grandfather of all auction sites, the focus is usually on the movers and shakers that either gained or lost the most positions in 10 days’ time. On the Trending Comics blog, we take a deeper dive to see what issues deserve a second look, such as these.

4. STAR WARS #1 (+27)

The Star Wars keys from a galaxy far, far away were on the rebound this week. Darth Vader #3 made such gains that it landed on this week’s Hottest Comics blog. Despite Doctor Aphra’s live-action potential, there’s no replacing the original, and buyers were taking to eBay in search of the first SW comic from 1977.

This will always be a treasure for Star Wars fans, and it climbed into the top-five, best-selling issues this week.

23. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #121 (NEW TO THE LIST)

Gwen Stacy is all the rage after Across the Spider-Verse. Although she has been featured in multiple live-action films, Into the Spider-Verse introduced the world to Spider-Gwen, the much cooler variant. Although the modern Gwen keys are on the move, buyers still lean on the ‘60s ASM issues that made her famous in the first place.

Here we have her death story, a masterful tale that continues to influence Spider-Man to this day.

28. SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #99 (+66)

There are so many things that Phil Lord and Chris Miller did right in Across the Spider-Verse. Besides making arguably the best ever Spider-Man film, they found a way to elevate The Spot from low-level villain/comedy act to Multiversal threat.

He’s by far one of the highlights of the film, and mainstream audiences have fallen in love with him. That naturally has buyers on the prowl for Spot’s debut in 1985’s Spectacular Spider-Man #99.

44. X-MEN ADVENTURES #1 (NEW TO THE LIST)

With X-Men ‘97 on the horizon, it’s only natural that buyers were tracking down the first comic inspired by X-Men: The Animated Series. This issue has been in and out of the Hottest Comics for the past year, and it will only get more popular as the show gets closer to its premiere.

Being a cartoon show, the ceiling is much lower than if it were live-action. Still, this is one of the most beloved cartoons of the 1990s, so the nostalgia appeal will help in the sales department.

94. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #31 (NEW TO THE LIST)

Another Gwen Stacy key has made the Hottest Comics this week, not that it’s any surprise. Here we have the first appearance of the original Earth-616 Gwen. While Spider-Gwen’s key issues are selling in larger quantities, there’s no replacing Peter’s first love. Even without the added attention from Across the Spider-Verse, ASM #31 is a holy grail for many collectors.

Don’t forget that in addition to Gwen’s debut, Harry Osborn made his first appearance here as well. He will be a main attraction in Sony’s Spider-Man 2 PlayStation game, and that should get more buyers looking for ASM #31.
