A familiar name among comic collectors has another hit series on his hands. Meanwhile, the Spider-Verse continues to give speculators and investors more keys to chase down.
The Trending Comics has returned for another week, and buyers were on the hunt for plenty of issues with strong upsides. Of course, unless you can get a steal of a deal, there’s no sure things in the world of comic collecting, but that’s all part of the fun.
70. IMAGE 30TH ANNIVERSARY ANTHOLOGY #8 (NEW TO THE LIST)
Worldtr33 has quickly become a phenomenon in the comics world. Wouldn’t you know that a creator-owned series that’s skyrocketed to the top of the sales charts was written by James Tynion IV? The same guy who brought the world Something Is Killing the Children, The Department of Truth, and The Nice House on the Lake is further cementing himself as the Stephen King of comics.
His latest comic is turning heads, and collectors have been nabbing copies of Image 30th Anniversary Anthology #8 for the debut of Worldtr33 and its soon-to-be-famous characters.
98. AMAZING FANTASY #1 (NEW TO THE LIST)
Between the upcoming third Spider-Verse movie, the MCU, and all the Sony Spider projects, any and every modern Spidey character is a collecting priority. Here we have the first appearance of Arana, a character rumored for the live-action Madame Web movie.
What gave this issue a major boost is the upcoming young adult novel, Arana and Spider-Man 2099: Dark Tomorrow, which could imply she will be featured in Beyond the Spider-Verse.
1. SPIDER-MAN #7 TOP-SECRET VARIANT (+1)
After having been dethroned for a few weeks, Spider-Boy’s first appearance has taken back its throne. For a time, the top-secret variant for Spider-Man #7 was by far the hottest comic in all of collecting. What made it special was Spider-Boy’s first cover appearance, and that sent buyers into a feeding frenzy on the auction sites.
Even when collectors and investors shifted gears to Spider-Man 2099 #1, Spider-Boy’s debut was still inside the top-10 Hottest Comics. Instead of taking a full dive, it climbed back atop the mountain. The only question now is, how long will it last?
28. MS. MARVEL #1 (+22)
The Marvels trailer may not exactly be impressing MCU fans far and wide, but it’s clearly impacting the market. Although Kamala Khans’ early appearances aren’t making huge strides just yet, Carol Danvers’ debut as the original Ms. Marvel has been making gains.
Over the past 10 days, it’s risen by more than 20 spots, and it’s now inside the top-30 Hottest Comics. This could be a preview of more The Marvels keys to follow.
44. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #20 (NEW TO THE LIST)
There’s so much Spider-Man movie talk and rumors. No one knows what to expect from the next installment of MCU Spidey flicks, and fans are anxiously awaiting the first trailer for Beyond the Spider-Verse. For that matter, Sony’s string of Spider-Man adjacent solo films has collectors trying to guess which classic villains could get standalone movies.
Put it all together, and there are so many opportunities for Mac Gargan to appear in live-action as the Scorpion, which has put a new emphasis on getting a copy of ASM #20.
