Forget Taylor Swift and Dazzler because Jason Momoa and Kid Venom were lighting up eBay this week.

If the secondary market is anything, it’s trendy. Well, it follows the latest trends and gossip, anyway. Although Dazzler’s first appearance was raking in huge numbers, some new Lobo rumors had his debut comic on the move. Here’s more.

7. OMEGA MEN #3 (+20)

It seems like only yesterday that rumors of Jason Momoa switching gears in the DCU lit the beacons for Omega Men #3.

Before James Gunn made his Chapter One announcement, he posted a picture of Lobo to social media, which whipped fans into a frenzy. Then things got quiet when Gunn didn’t mention the Main Man in his list of upcoming projects. Here we are again with a new round of gossip suggesting that, indeed, Momoa will put down Aquaman’s trident and revv his space Harley as Lobo.

Fans have been angling for this casting for years. Well before Momoa first stoked the fires of the rumor mill, there were numerous fan castings calling for him to play everyone’s favorite alien bounty hunter. It was only a matter of time before another wave of gossip and scuttlebutt hit the internet.

Until Gunn or Momoa confirms that the actor will play Lobo, it’s nothing but rumors and innuendo. Nevertheless, it’s launched Omega Men #3 back into the collecting conversation in a big way.

8. DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH #1 (+41)

The Department of Truth continues to heat up the secondary market. With the Hollywood strike seemingly reaching its end, the word on the internet is that production will soon begin on the DOT live-action show. That has buyers on the hunt for the series’ premiere issue.

Topping the list this week is the first print standard edition, which jumped by more than 40 spots to land in the top-10 Hottest Comics.

46. BATMAN #609 (NEW TO THE LIST)

The name Thomas Elliot should ring a few bells for Batman collectors. As we wait for more details on The Batman 2’s plot, there’s growing speculation that the film will be loosely based on the modern classic story arc, “Hush.” At the center of the mystery is Bruce Wayne’s former childhood friend turned villain, Thomas Elliot.

While he wasn’t mentioned in The Batman, many fans are connecting the dots and believe the signs point to him being the sequel’s antagonist. That’s caused an uproar for Thomas’ first appearance in Batman #609.

74. DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH #1 JENNY FRISON VARIANT (NEW TO THE LIST)

The Department of Truth was so popular this week that it’s worthy of two entries on this week’s blog. While the standard edition got the fame and glory of cracking the top-10 best-selling comics on eBay, it’s worth noting the Jenny Frison DOT #1 variant.

There are numerous variants for that coveted first issue, and Frison’s cover art stands tall among the competition. Since it’s harder to find and more expensive than the standard edition, the FOMO effect certainly comes into play here.

88. DEATH OF THE VENOMVERSE #2 KID VENOM VARIANT (NEW TO THE LIST)

Just when fans were getting their fill of Spider-Boy, Venom gets his own pint-sized duplicate, Kid Venom. Taking place in 10th century Japan, Kid Venom is actually a boy named Kintaro who comes into contact with the famous symbiote to defend his village.

Kid Venom is already slated to get his first starring solo series when Kid Venom: Origins #1 hits comic shops in January. Will it lead to Kintaro making it to the big screen? That’s always motivation for collectors and investors to grab all the first appearances they can find.
