As Blue Beetle is mired in a sales slump, the latest Deadpool 3 gossip has sent New X-Men #114 straight to the top of eBay’s best sellers.

Each week, we break down the Hottest Comics, the index of the 100 best-selling comics on eBay. Whether buyers are loving or shunning the issues, the Hottest/Coldest blogs track the five issues that experienced the most change over a 10-day span.

Piggybacking on those blogs, Trending Comics takes a closer look at the issues that may have flown under your collecting radar, like these.

18. NEW X-MEN #114 (NEW TO THE LIST)

Writers and actors’ strike or no strike, Deadpool 3 continues to cause ripples in the marketplace. A new casting rumor has inspired a wave of collecting for New X-Men #114. What’s important about this issue? It is the first appearance of Cassandra Nova, who is reportedly all set to make her live-action debut.

She is an alien parasite that duplicated Professor X’s DNA while still in the womb. That more or less makes Cassandra Xavier’s twin. Only in comic books can an origin be this weird and complicated without a single reader batting an eye.

36. STAR WARS #43 (NEW TO THE LIST)

Donald Glover is returning to the Star Wars universe, slipping back into Lando Calrissian’s totally disco suit and cape. Originally played by Billy D. Williams, Glover took over the role for the box office bomb, Solo.

Despite that flop, Disney was pleased enough with Glover’s performance to cast him in the starring role of a Lando series on Disney Plus. The hype for that show has made its way to the secondary market, and buyers were stockpiling the character’s first comic appearance in Star Wars #43.

53. TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #3 (NEW TO THE LIST)

The Krang were heavily teased in Mutant Mayhem, and that has sent buyers on a mission for TMNT #3. Any of those early Ninja Turtles issues from the Mirage era are popular collecting targets. After the latest movie and the potential for Krang in the sequel, it has raised the stakes for the Utrom’s first collective appearance in this 1985 comic.

Whether we will see one Krang, a la the 1987 cartoon show, or an entire alien race of brain-like creatures remains to be seen, but audiences are certain Krang’s time has come.

65. UNCANNY X-MEN #142 (NEW TO THE LIST)

Deadpool 3 continued to influence the secondary market, and it’s given a boost to one of the X-Men’s most famous storylines. UXM #142 is the second of the revered two-part Days of Future Past.

Considering the upcoming film will see Deadpool and Wolverine skipping and jumping across the Multiverse and infiltrating multiple timelines, it is likely they will take a jab at the DOFP film.

Since Ryan Reynolds has said that Deadpool 3 will not undo the events of Logan, it could be that the MCU Wolverine is from the DOFP timeline.

100. INFINITE CRISIS #5 JIM LEE VARIANT (-38)

Jaime’s first appearance as Blue Beetle continues to spiral. Last week, it ranked among the dreaded Coldest Comics, and things have only gotten worse.

After dropping to the 64th position, the Infinite Crisis #5 Jim Lee variant fell all the way to dead last in the rankings. At this rate, it will disappear from the Hottest Comics altogether very soon.

Will the movie’s premiere later this month help it rebound? It will be worth keeping an eye on things in case it does.
