The first three episodes of Ahsoka have introduced a new mystery -- what evil lies outside of the known Star Wars galaxy? Specifically, who -- or what -- exists in Peridia, an extragalactic planet? That answer might lead collectors to dig through dollar bins looking for copies of Star Wars: Invasion #1.

In the third episode of Ahsoka, we see Lady Morgan Elsbeth building the Eye of Sion (named after Darth Sion), a gigantic hyperspace ring, similar to the ones that we saw in the prequels that powered Jedi starfighters, but only many times larger. We know she plans on using the ring to travel to Peridia, an alleged extragalactic location so far away that Baylan Skoll called it a Jedi "fairytale."

There is one non-canon Star Wars villain that originated from another galaxy: the Yuuzhan Vong. Created by R.A. Salvatore in the Star Wars: The New Jedi Order novels, the Yuuzhan Vong are a nomadic, war-like extra-galactic humanoid species that relies upon biotechnology that invades the New Republic. We know Dave Filoni, a Star Wars guru, will produce an Avengers-style team-up movie featuring the Mandalorian, Grogu, Ahsoka, and perhaps even the Rebels, Boba Fett and Luke Skywalker. But you can't have an Avengers-like film without an Avengers-level threat.

Could it be Thrawn? Probably not big enough of a threat. Considering the Yuuzhan Vong killed trillions when they invaded in the New Republic in the now non-canon Star Wars: The New Jedi Order, they would definitely qualify. They would be like the Borg in Star Trek or the White Walkers in Game of Thrones.

If the Yuuzhan Vong play a major role in Star Wars going forward, it may lead fans to scramble for a book that has most likely languished in dollar bins for the past fourteen years: Star Wars: Invasion #1. After doing some research, it appears as though Star Wars: Invasion #1 contains the first appearance of the Yuuzhan Vong in comics (although CGC doesn't recognize the Yuuzhan Vong on the label of Invasion #1). Readers, correct me if I'm wrong in the comments section below.

Published by Dark Horse Comics in 2009, the first recorded sale of a CGC-graded copy of Star Wars: Invasion #1 occurred in December 2020. Since then, there have only been ten recorded sales of CGC 9.8s. The most recent 9.8 sold for $76 on eBay in June, but the other two sales in 2023 were for $60 or less. Ten months ago, a 9.8 sold for a mere $29 during an auction hosted by eBay.

In terms of supply of graded copies, there are only 28 graded copies of Star Wars: Invasion #1 on the CGC Census, 15 of which are 9.8s. That being said, there's been little market demand for this issue which would explain why few investors have sent this comic to CGC for grading. In terms of raw copies, there is very little supply right now on eBay -- less than 30 copies on eBay right now.

Do you think the Yuuzhan Vong will be the next big bad of the Star Wars universe? Let us know your opinion in the comments section below!
