"Groot" is one of the few remaining Marvel comics that aren't going through the 'Last Days of' story line and it is one of the books in their line to definitely pick up. This issue includes guest stars Silver Surfer and his partner, Dawn. The comic book is a fun team-up that manages to get to the heart of what makes Groot and Silver Surfer tick. This is a fun issue.

Groot is looking to find his friend Rocket Raccoon. Rocket's been taken by bounty hunters to lure Groot into a trap. Groot is the bounty. However, Groot bumps into Surfer and Dawn.

After the initial awkwardness of Dawn not being able to understand Groot, Surfer and Dawn agree to help Groot find Rocket. Things don't go as planned and the trio find themselves saving a planet.

Not only does the comic have some adventure in it but it also gives the reader a glimpse into what makes these characters great. Dawn brings out the personality in Surfer and highlights the drawbacks with this character. Dawn also manages to call attention to the charm and oddities with Groot. Groot and Surfer have a good relationship in this comic because they both seem to be characters that struggle with being alone. The characterizations help drive this book.

The comic is a fun ride when the action hits. It showcases some of the powers for both Surfer and Groot. The comic tells a very charming story while weaving the three characters together and putting them in danger's path. The plot is fairly straight-forward but throws a couple of surprises here and there. The book has some lighthearted moments to round out the book.

The artwork is very good. The comic has a lot of creativity with the situations that the trio fall into and the artwork gives some nice visuals. When the close of the book occurs the artwork shines with lively action pages and very detailed panels, including scenery. The comic looks every bit as fun as the story being told within. This comic book looks great.

"Groot" is a very good read. It brings in Silver Surfer and his partner, Dawn, into the fold for this issue. This comic book showcases the character's personalities and provides a good one-shot, team-up story. The book has great visuals to capture the essence of what makes Groot, Surfer and Dawn a great set of characters. This comic is a fun ride and is worth checking out.
