Media Release -- Overground Comics announced today that they are set to be distributed nationally by Diamond Distributors beginning with the October Previews book. The books available for order in October and released in December will be Absent Captain (Jon Hughes, Joshua Flower) and Graduate (Jon Hughes, Celia Calle).
The listings appear on page 367, of the October Previews magazine, and include a "Spotlight On" designation for Absent Captain. The books will be distributed nationally in December 2015 for the first time ever.
After initially being turned down for distribution because the stories are superhero-driven, a surge in interest from local fans in Houston, national fans from convention appearances and industry retailers prompted a second look.
"We are thrilled with national distribution, but we are even more amazed at the support that helped to get us there. The fans are behind us, and in addition, many of the retailers I was able to visit during my countrywide promotional tour helped make this happen," said Editor-in-Chief Jon Hughes.
"There is a constant need in our industry to develop unique characters and to highlight new and fantastic talents. We are grateful that this momentum can carry through nationally. We are much more than a new superhero universe. In our books, the characters will grow with you. There will never be a retroactive continuity event; our fictional world is meant to remind readers of their own. No reboots, no relaunches. When someone passes away in our books, they are not forgotten but they are no longer with us," Hughes continued.
