Or it can mean "sorrowful world." A "transitory world." An implication of a separate, illusory reality. A staging place for the afterlife. Author and illustrator Cary Polkovitz's UKIYO centers on an existence based on varying perceptions. Hallucinatory visuals tell a tale inspired by the rapidly advancing technologies of today's social media and global economic interconnectivity. UKIYO is a study in non-linear storytelling, drugs, online personas, and obsession.

About the Author

Creator Cary Polkovitz cut his teeth as writer and penciler for NeoTek Iconography's NAU Headhunter during his college years at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. He then went on to illustrate "Miss Adventure" and "Kodiak" for Men's Adventure and Penthouse Comix through the mid 90s. Taking a break to teach art and become a well-known painter in South Florida's "low-brow" art scene, and to have two volumes of his short stories published, Cary has since come back to his roots in the comic book industry.
